
Child Domestic Worker Abandoned, Brutally Tortured in Dhaka
Aduri, Found Half-Dead in Dustbin, Sparks Outrage Over Domestic Abuse
In a harrowing incident that shocked the nation, Aduri, a young domestic child worker, was discovered clinging to life in a dustbin in Dhaka‘s Pallabi DOHS area on September 23, 2013. The child, hailing from Kaurakhali village in Patuakhali, was the victim of extreme abuse while employed at the residence of Naureen Jahan Nodir, located in Sultana Palace, Pallabi.
Aduri’s ordeal involved systematic and brutal torture at the hands of Nodir and her mother, Israt Jahan. Reports detailed the use of brooms, hot irons, knives, and blades to inflict pain. The abuse culminated in her being discarded in a dustbin, left for dead.
Following her rescue, Aduri was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for urgent medical care. The severity of her injuries sparked public outrage and prompted swift legal action. On September 26, 2013, a case was filed at Pallabi Police Station against Naureen Jahan Nodir, her husband Saiful Islam Masud, Masud’s brother-in-law Chunnu Mir, and their relative Roni, demanding justice for the heinous crimes committed against the vulnerable child.
